Of ice skates and prophecies of doom: The ice pond yesterday and today

Of ice skates and prophecies of doom: The ice pond yesterday and today

The Riehen ice pond - once a place for winter sports - is now a valuable biotope under cantonal protection. The sisters Luzia and Bettina Knobel shed light on its past and present. They report on how man and nature are connected here and the importance of the ice pond for rare species such as tree frogs and yellow-bellied toads.

With Bettina Knobel, project manager for nature conservation, Stadtgärtnerei Basel; Luzia Knobel, historian and cultural mediator & Bettina Besler, project employee at MUKS exhibitions. For adults with a sweet tooth.
